Manacor, January 4, 2018. Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar hosts for a second year in a row four ITF Pro-Circuit Tournaments – two in the male category and another two in the female category scheduled from January 10th to February 17th at the clay court facilities of the Manacor Academy (Mallorca).
Future tournaments are professional (scoring for the ATP and the WTA) and held by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) whose objective is none other than to encourage the participation of promising young tennis players in the professional circuit.
Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, in addition to hosting the tournament, organizes a pre-preliminary phase where “wild card” invitations are awarded during the final singles lineup of the ITF tournament (a total of 4 WC per category); and another wild card for the main double lineup (a total of another 4 WC per category).
Tournament champions receive a Wild Card invitation to participate in the main singles lineup of the next ITF tournament and also receive a weekly program at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, while the finalists get a Wild Card invitation for the main doubles lineup and 50% on the same training plan.
The organizers of the Future Tournaments on behalf of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar and the collaboration of the tournament sponsors - Mallorca Sotheby’s International Realty, LG, Iberostar, Air Europa, Majorica, Coca-Cola and Movistar- represent a firm commitment to this competitive sport and this type of tournament that contributes to the training of future tennis professionals. Without the commitment of these tournament sponsors, tournaments of this type, where players leap to become professional tennis players, would not be possible in Spain.
Joan Suasi, director of the male and female ITF Future Pro-Circuit Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar I and II tournaments, explains that: “it’s very important for us to be able to host this tournament with these characteristics for a second consecutive year in our facilities. This sports event offers the chance to watch professional players in Mallorca. We hope to give continuity to this beautiful project.” Furthermore, he finds quite valuable that students of the Academy; "can compete without leaving the island or move around to gain ATP and WTA points."
